Amazing Grace Many legends are associated with the song ”Amazing Grace", a Scottish tune that came to be known by some as the Tsalagi (Cherokee) “National Anthem” quite a ways back. One legend has it that this song was sung on the Cherokee Trail of Tears in the 1830s to honor those who died on the march and whose burial was forbidden by federal troops. It is now associated with Native Americans in general; translated into and often sung in native languages.
